Discover the history, nature, and beauty of Tolowa Dunes State Park on a horseback adventure. You will visit the Yontocket Memorial Site, where you can learn about the native culture and history of the area. You will also see different types of trees, sand dunes, and Kellogg Beach. You will enjoy the views of the wildlife, open meadows, and marshes that make this park unique.

Information

Your ride will be led by an experienced guide who will keep you safe and comfortable. The ride is mostly at a walking pace, so you can relax and take in the scenery. You need to be able to get on and off the horse with little help from the staff. We have a two-step mounting block to make it easier for you.

  • No riders under 6 years of age – No riding double allowed.
  • Cool coastal climate — wear layers
  • Long pants and closed-toed shoes required
  • Weight Limit 280- Limited capacity
  • Due to tide activity (especially winter) we are unable to access the beach sometimes

Wear Layers for Changing Coastal Weather

Temperatures can shift quickly along the coast, so dress in layers and bring a windbreaker for comfort during your ride.

Long Pants and Closed-Toe Shoes Required

Wear appropriate footwear and pants to ensure safety and comfort while riding and mounting the horses.

Arrive Early for Check-In

Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled ride to complete waivers, helmet fittings (if under 18), and to meet your guide.

Be Prepared for Limited Beach Access

Tide conditions especially in winter can restrict beach riding access, but alternative scenic inland trails are available.
