Throughout our late fall and winter season, we still love to get on the water with you to show you what our unique ecosystems are like at those times of the year. These tours will often travel through our calm and protected inlets, away from the stormy open ocean, allowing for a comfortable and beautiful boat ride. If the sea is calm, we will occasionally venture out to the open ocean to show you the rugged coastline and the wildlife that populates those areas.
Wildlife sightings on these tours will vary day-to-day but can feature a variety of whales, birds, sea otters, sea lions, seals, and more. We'll also point out the important history of our surroundings throughout the duration of the tour, giving you lots of insight into Tofino & Clayoquot Sound.
Travel in the comfort of one of our cabin cruisers, the Pacific Springs or Eagle 44.
Some features of the Pacific Springs and Eagle 44 include:
NOTE: Vessels are not wheelchair accessible.
At Jamie’s, the safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority. As part of our ongoing commitment to safety, we have extensive training and vessel maintenance schedules in place and have made significant investments in ensuring we have safety and life-saving equipment on our vessels that not only meet, but exceed Transport Canada standards.
Before each tour, our crew will gather all guests for a safety briefing while also distributing Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) to each individual.
Temperatures on the water can be chilly year-round, so bring layers that you can easily add or remove.
A telephoto lens or zoom feature enhances chances of capturing wildlife moments from the boat’s rear deck.
Plan to be at Jamie’s Whaling Station at least 30 minutes before departure to allow time for safety briefings and boarding.
Though optional, binoculars greatly improve spotting distant otters and marine life in the inlets.
Clayoquot Sound is recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, reflecting its ecological and cultural importance, with Indigenous Nuu-chah-nulth communities stewarding the land for thousands of years.
