Enjoy a day trip from Rome and explore Hadrian’s Villa and Villa D’Este, the two most famous attractions in Tivoli.
20 miles east of Rome you can find Tivoli, where there are two artistic gems. Villa Adriana, dating back to Roman Times and Villa D’Este from the Renaissance period.
This unique tour will include pick-up up from your accommodation in Rome and transfer to Tivoli with a professional driver and a local professional guide.
You will first visit Hadrian’s Villa built by Roman Emperor Hadrian, datable to the II century AD. This villa was based on the memories he had of the monuments and sites he had seen during his travels in the East. The Villa which preserves many important archaeological remains has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. Before visiting the second attraction, stop for lunch in downtown Tivoli.
Next, you will find Villa D’Este, one of the most beautiful residences of the Renaissance. A number of fountains are located in the heart of the Italian style gardens, that create a peaceful symphony of carved stone, shade, sunlight and water. The end of the tour will include a transfer back to Rome and you will be dropped off back at your accommodation.

Both Hadrian’s Villa and Villa D’Este involve walking on uneven surfaces and gravel paths—sturdy shoes improve comfort and safety.
Bring a refillable water bottle, especially during summer when temperatures can soar during outdoor garden walks.
Even in summer, mornings can be cool and shade abundant, so layering helps adapt to changing microclimates in the gardens.
Some areas inside the villas may restrict flash photography; check with your guide to avoid fines and preserve delicate artifacts.
Hadrian’s Villa reflects the Roman Emperor’s fascination with architecture and cultures across the empire, blending Eastern motifs with Roman design.
Efforts are ongoing to preserve the delicate water supply systems feeding Villa D’Este’s fountains and maintain archaeological integrity at Hadrian’s Villa.
Necessary for navigating the uneven terrain and extensive grounds of Tivoli’s villas.
