The Squam Lakes offer excellent paddling opportunities, with many islands, coves, reefs and miles of protected mountain views. Come explore the shores of Squam!
A three-hour rental provides the opportunity to paddle around Piper Cove on Squam Lake and see the beauty of the mountains of the Squam Range. Dependent on weather conditions and renters' skill level, three-hour rentals may provide time to paddle to Moon or Bowman Island where there are areas to swim, public bathrooms, and walking trails. Lifejackets and paddles are provided as part of the rental.
Please note that all lands other than Squam Lakes Association property (Moon Island, Bowman Island, and Chamberlain Reynolds Memorial Forest) are private property.
Wind and weather can create choppy conditions; plan trips on calm days for the best paddling experience.
Three hours on the water means exposure—pack water, sunscreen, and a hat to stay comfortable.
Moon and Bowman Islands are public areas, but other shores are private property—keep to designated landing spots.
Lifejackets are provided—wear them at all times for safety, especially if stopping to swim at islands.
