A brisk morning wind lifts you off the alpine grass and the village of Zermatt falls away into a scatter of rooftops and rails. The Matterhorn dominates the horizon — a jagged neighbor that seems to lean in to watch you fly. From takeoff sites above 3,000 m (the Rothorn classic launch, with Gornergrat used seasonally) the air carries you across cornices, past serrated 4,000 m peaks and into clean, thin sky.
moderate.
2 hours total (20–25 minute flight).
Moderate fitness: able to walk on uneven ground and run a few quick steps at takeoff; not suitable for people with serious back or heart problems.
No experience is required; pilots provide a briefing and you only need to take a few quick steps at takeoff.
No — transport to Rothorn or Gornergrat is not included. Bring a SwissPass or Half‑Fare Card for discounts and your pilot can assist with tickets.
Paragliding operators ask for height, weight and health information during booking; individuals with serious spinal or cardiovascular conditions are advised not to fly and should consult the operator directly.
Flights are weather dependent; if the pilot cancels for safety you’ll receive a full refund or rebooking options.
Zermatt rose to prominence in the golden age of alpinism in the 19th century; the Matterhorn’s first ascent in 1865 turned the valley into an international mountaineering destination.
The area is part of sustainable mountain tourism efforts; stick to designated trails and avoid disturbing alpine flora, which is slow to recover from trampling.
Fly Zermatt Paragliding operates guided outdoor trips and adventures with an emphasis on safety, stewardship, and memorable experiences.
