The first thing you notice on the drive out of Marrakech is how the city’s heat thins and the land opens—flat, stony plains that slope toward the lower Atlas foothills. At takeoff, the wind nudges the wing and the pilot runs; then, suddenly, the Agafay floor falls away and you’re suspended above a patchwork of ochre rock, olive groves and scattered Berber homes. The Atlas Mountains carve the horizon, their ridgelines watching the flight.
