Step back in time with an exhilarating steam train driving experience! Take the reins as driver, fireman, and guard while enjoying return trips along the full line. Guided by experts, you'll also explore the train and carriage sheds, making this a unique adventure for rail enthusiasts.
Immerse yourself in a bygone era of rail travel with this steam train driving experience, that’ll see you run over the full line and pull a complete service train. Starting at 10.30 AM with a safety briefing, participants will then get the chance to do return trips as driver, fireman and guard as well as a session in the signal box. All whilst under the supervision of our experienced team. The event also includes a guided tour of the train and carriage sheds. The experience is due to finish at approx. 15.30PM Minimum age - 18 years old

Leather shoes or safety boots are required to protect your feet in the engine area.
Boiler suits or overalls are recommended to keep you clean and safe during the experience.
Steam engines have many hot, oily parts—avoid touching without guidance to prevent burns or injury.
You’ll need to climb a ladder approximately 6 feet high; ensure you’re steady on your feet.
The Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway preserves a line from the early 20th century, maintaining steam railroading techniques and heritage for public education and enjoyment.
The railway operates with strict environmental practices to minimize coal emissions and preserve local habitats around the line.
