The day opens with a cool, green hush—jungle leaves clack softly as a small convoy pulls off the coastal highway and hikers step out into shadow. Water calls first: a lagoon that holds mirror-still pools and three cenotes whose stair-cut edges drop into crystalline, turquoise light. You move from bright, open water to the sculpted darkness of sinkholes, where shafts of sun draw columns in the water and the stone seems to hold time.
