Experience first hand what life was like for Evangeline, the Heroine of Longfellow's epic poem. This expedition begins in St Martinville, LA at the Longfellow-Evangeline Historic Site with a guided tour and authentic re-enactments of Cajun Heritage. A glimpse into what her life would have looked like on authentic, historically preserved grounds. After our first tour we will enjoy a light brunch at St John's Restaurant before heading out towards the Atchafalaya basin. When we arrive at McGee's Louisiana Swamp & Airboat Tours, we embark on a 90 minute excursion exploring the Atchafalaya Swamp with some of the world's best boat captains. Here they will show you the Atchafalaya Basin exactly as she saw it. On our way back we follow the Bayou Teche and pass through downtown Breaux Bridge, La offering great dining and shopping options. From here it's a short drive back to St Martinville, LA to complete our journey.
