A journey into the life of Salvador Dalí one of the world’s greatest and most peculiar artists. Our Spanish Trails “All Things Dalí” day tour is a full-day experience from Barcelona to the northern border of Catalunya where Salvador Dalí was born, raised and lived. While the day’s itinerary is essentially based around the quintessential visits to the Dalí House Museum in Port Lligat, Cadaqués and Dalí Museum in Figueres, there is a lot to do and see in between throughout the day’s journey. You get to spend the day in the heart of the Catalan countryside and Costa Brava getting a true feel for the Catalan Mediterranean culture, architecture, traditions, and world-class cuisine that helped inspire Dalí’s world-renown art and lifestyle.
Dalí’s museums with a great lunch and visit to Cadaqués on the Costa Brava. Your Spanish Trails All Things Dalí day tour is guided by one of our experienced, entertaining and very enthusiastic Dalí loving guides. Our guide will have your entrances and full lunch organized ahead of time to keep the day moving along to ensure that groups receive ample time in both museums, a great four-course restaurant meal and time to stroll around the beautiful Mediterranean beachfront village of Cadaqués.
The visit to the Dalí house museum in Port Lligat is a one-hour guided visit through Dalí’s main residence with a maximum group size of eight people. The house is a veritable labyrinth shifting through narrow corridors and passageways into the rooms and workshop where Dalí and his wife Gala lived; which are still decorated with the original ornaments and furniture from when they resided there. The Dali Teatre Museu in Figueres was designed and built by Dalí himself and showcases some of his great masterpiece paintings in addition to some of the sculptures, furniture and jewelry that he designed.
The chance to visit Cadaques is in itself worth the trip north. Cadaqués, with its whitewashed houses, winding cobbled streets, galleries and shops, has been the home of many artists, including Pablo Picasso (1910), and is still an artist colony today. Cadaqués’ unique and tricky location, surrounded by miles of stone wall terracing is incredible and will surely be a highlight of the day along with the Dali museums.
