Your class will include a dockside lesson before heading out. We will begin with a warm-up before moving through a slow yoga flow that includes sun salutations and some static poses on the boards.
Bring water, sunscreen and chapstick. Wear workout clothes that allow you to stretch. Athletic shorts or leggings would work (just not cotton). You can wear a swimsuit underneath your clothes if you want to.
It seems that even before beginning her practice, the Yoga seed was somehow already planted within Katie Jo. As a young child that seed was unknowingly, sprouting as she "noodled" herself into a million positions that her grandmother would just stare at in wonder. Unfortunately, into her adult years fear always kept her away from attending a Yoga class. However, the desire never diminished. Finally, in 2014 several years after having become a wife and a mother, she began to feel a sense of urgency. It was time. She registered for a beginners class. She became fully engrossed in the philosophy, postures and community that Yoga offered. Yoga had found her.
The student becomes the teacher! In 2016, she continued on her path by obtaining her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification at Boundless Yoga in Stroudsburg, PA with Chris Loebsack and Brian M. Davis. During the summer of 2016 she continued her education by also completing SUP (Stand-Up Paddle Board) Yoga Teacher Training with Bliss Paddle Yoga that took place in Long Beach Island, NJ.
Yogic principles, Pranayama breathing techniques, and Asanas (postures) are woven into Katie Jo’s classes. These practices reduce stress and are a boon to the practitioner’s mind, heart and body. When not on her SUP you’ll probably find her on a family hike or volunteering for her son’s SUP racing team.
