Skylines and Sunsets sails out of Demens Landing Park in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, delivering two-hour private sunset cruises aboard Althea, a classic 42-foot sailing yacht. Departing from Demens Landing Park Public Boat Ramp - 501 1st Ave SE, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, this easygoing private charter carries up to six guests and pairs quiet sailing with panoramic views of the St. Pete skyline and Tampa Bay as the sun slides toward the Gulf of Mexico.
Onboard, a U.S. Coast Guard–licensed captain and mate handle the lines while guests relax with complimentary soft drinks, bottled water, and light hors d’oeuvres. The yacht, designed by Robert Perry, has the predictable lines and comfortable deck space that make watching the city lights emerge from the water effortless. Riders hop aboard by climbing three steps; the operator asks parties to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early and keep dock time brief to accommodate other boat traffic.
The scene shifts from sunlit water to mirrored twilight: glassy bay surfaces, neighborhood piers, and the municipal marina punctuate the view as pelicans and terns wheel nearshore. Natural features include wide Tampa Bay waters and the low-lying barrier islands at the bay’s mouth, where a palette of salt flats and mangrove edges frames the horizon. The charter emphasizes a relaxed evening atmosphere rather than racing to offshore vistas, making it ideal for couples, small groups, anniversaries, and photographers after that golden-hour glow.
Practical notes: most trips run about two hours with variable start times depending on sunset; guests must be at least five years old. Check-in begins and ends at the public ramp adjacent to the St. Petersburg Municipal Marina office; there is a public restroom at the boarding location. The trip is private, making it easy to customize music, beverages, or celebration details with the captain in advance.
Why book it while visiting St. Pete? From the water the city reads differently—historic brick facades, new glass towers, and the broad sweep of the waterfront combine with a maritime light unique to Tampa Bay. This operator provides an intimate, local-run experience rather than a crowded tourist boat: small group size, a classic yacht, and a crew focused on comfort create a memorable way to mark an evening.
Whether you’re after a photogenic sunset, a low-key celebration, or a slow sail under city lights, Skylines and Sunsets on Althea is a compact, confident way to see St. Petersburg from the water. Bookings are private charters, so bring a light jacket as sea breezes sharpen after sundown, mention any dietary preferences for hors d’oeuvres ahead of time, and note that boarding requires climbing three steps from the dock; the crew will help make the evening smooth and memorable.
