The boat slips from the harbor as late afternoon light softens into gold, and the island seems to hold its breath. You glide past Biboca Beach, fins and pranchinha (aquasub) at the ready, water around the hull alive with flash of silver fish and the slow glide of turtles. The skiff curves toward the twin silhouette of Morro Dois Irmãos—two volcanic ribs rising from the sea—where the sun begins to settle the sky into bands of coral and indigo.
