The Must-See Nature Cruise in Bar Harbor!

Duration

2 Hours

About

This evening trip is one of the most beautiful ways to experience Frenchman Bay and Acadia National Park as the sun sets. The first hour of this trip is a traditional nature cruise: we follow the east coast of Mount Desert Island and offer narration and opportunities to see the most stunning shoreline of Acadia National Park. Throughout the trip, we look out for bald eagles, peregrine falcons, harbor porpoise, seals, and other wildlife.

We also share information about the environment, history, and culture of the area. We visit Egg Rock Island and Lighthouse, part of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge to see seals, eagles and nesting seabirds. During the second hour of the trip, we cruise slowly through the evergreen tree-topped islands of Frenchman Bay while listening to fun happy hour music. We partner with Atlantic Brewing Company, a local award winning microbrew, and offer happy hour prices throughout the tour. Start your day with a sunrise atop Cadillac Mountain and end your day with a sunset on the ocean!

Binoculars and/or a long zoom lens are recommended for viewing wildlife such as seals and eagles.

Dogs are welcome aboard!

WHAT TO BRING

Warm layers such as a jacket or sweatshirt. The temperature can drop later in the day/early evening. Air temperatures tends to be colder on the water.

DON'T MISS THE BOAT!

  • We recommend arriving at the dock 45-60 minutes before departure. Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before cruise departs.

  • Municipal paid parking is available at the town pier and in downtown Bar Harbor. It is recommended to arrive early to find parking, as spots can fill quickly. Plan enough time to get into town, park, and get to the dock.

RECOMMENDED FOR KIDS?

Kids are certainly welcome! We ask parents or guardians to make sure kids have an adult with them at all times. We are out on the ocean and kids tend to wander off, attempt to jump, run, swing and climb on things they shouldn't and could potentially get injured. It helps to make sure adults are reinforcing the safety rules!
