The sun slides low over Luxor and the Nile becomes a moving mirror; you sit on the low deck of a traditional wooden felucca, steam of a small tea cup warming your hands while the sail catches the last breeze. The boat rocks in slow, deliberate pulses and the river seems to pull the city’s long history into view — temple pylons, palm-fringed banks, and occasional fishermen casting nets.

The cruise is rated easy and suitable for most, but infants must sit on laps and boarding a low boat requires basic mobility and balance.
The felucca is a traditional Nile sailboat used for centuries; Luxor (ancient Thebes) rose along these banks because of the Nile’s dependable resources and transport routes.
Avoid single-use plastics, stay on designated docks, and follow crew guidance—small choices help protect the river’s wildlife and water quality.
