The Best Sunset Spot on the Island

“Mosteiros” is a civil parish located on the westernmost side of São Miguel Island, classified as a “Fajã” due to its origin and location—a distinctive geological formation found in the Azores and Madeira archipelagos. This area, one of the most recently formed volcanic lands on the island, is characterized by an extensive array of basaltic rocks along the coastline.  A very notorious location for its locally famous natural pools, coarse sand beach and the stunning sunsets by the coast. 

At this side of the island you'll witness the beautiful contrasts of tones between the different nature's elements: the light sky blue with the darkish blue from the ocean, the black rocks that disperse throughout the coast and stand out from the middle of the ocean and the fire red, orange and yellow that involve everything when the sun says goodbye for the day.

• Dinner will be served at the terrace of a local restaurant with a sea view, having the options of a dish of meat, fish or vegetarian, appetizers, drinks, desserts and coffee/tea, all in line with the regional gastronomy and with some of the best organic ingredients on the island.

• Finish off the day admiring the sunset, impressive by nature, but especially in contrast with the dark rock islets that stand out from the horizon. Have a walk on the beach to admire this phenomena or take a sit in one of the surrounding terraces, your choice, your unique experience. We'll still have time to taste a local handmade sweet delicacy before returning to your accommodation in a relaxed and a safe way with our tour guide behind the wheel.

• Accommodation pickups and drop-off's at Ponta Delgada, Lagoa and Ribeira Grande are included.
• Meeting points are at "Estátua do Emigrante" or "Portas da Cidade" in Ponta Delgada or near the "Continente" supermarket in Lagoa or Ribeira Grande. We'll define your chosen meeting point when we reach out to confirm booking details.
