Before dawn the launch field smells of coffee and dust; crews inflate a bright canopy while the Atlas Mountains cut a jagged silhouette against a slow-burning sky. As the burners pulse, the basket eases upward and Marrakech shrinks into a patchwork of palms, ochre fields and stony desert.
