Before dawn, the favela exhales. You meet at Praça do Vidigal where streetlights and small stalls fade as the sky brightens, and a motorbike taxi lifts you up the hillside for a short, spirited ride above the roofs. The trail begins in shaded scrub and loose rock, switching between narrow singletrack and stepped stone where locals pass with energetic greetings.

The trail is moderately strenuous: about an hour uphill from the top of Vidigal with uneven rock and steps; reasonable fitness is recommended.
Meet at Praça do Vidigal; access is easiest by taxi or rideshare (Uber/99) since the tour departs before public transport runs.
