The boat slips away from Nassau’s harbor and the city shrinks to low-rise roofs and salt-bright air. In twenty to thirty minutes the wake flattens and Sun Cay’s low rocky outline appears: a private island of white sand, mangled rock, and an open lee where the reef rolls easy. Guides issue masks and point to six seven-foot sculptures standing like slow watchmen; currents thread between them and the reef life treats the statues like a new reef.
