Dawn arrives cold and clear above the High Atlas. You leave Casablanca’s flat light behind and, after hours of road, step into Imlil’s bowl of terraced fields and stone houses where mule bells and a thin river dare you upward.

Summit day typically involves a 4–7 hour round-trip from the refuge with 900–1,200 m of ascent; it’s physically demanding but non-technical, requiring steady pace and good fitness.
No technical mountaineering skills are required in summer; in late winter or spring, snow and ice may require crampons and an experienced guide will advise accordingly.
Most itineraries pick up from Casablanca and route through Marrakech and Imlil; walking begins in Imlil and returns there before road transfer back to the city you depart from.
Acute mountain sickness is possible above 2,500 m; the itinerary includes staged climbs and rest to help acclimatize, but monitor symptoms and inform guides immediately if you feel unwell.
