No technical climbing is required for the standard itinerary, but comfort on scree, snow patches, and steep high-altitude terrain is essential.
Acute mountain sickness can appear above 3,000 m; symptoms include headache, nausea, and breathlessness—slow ascent, hydration, and rest reduce risk.
Expect cellular signal to disappear around Pojun Camp; lodges in Feilai Temple and Lijiang have connectivity, but wilderness nights are off-grid.
Trekking in Meili and some border areas may require local permits and ID/passport checks—your operator handles logistics but carry originals.
