Moderate fitness; participants should be comfortable walking short approaches and spending a day standing and climbing.
The program is intended for high school students, typically aged fourteen to seventeen, with a minimum age of fourteen.
No prior experience is required; the course starts with fundamentals and progresses based on group skill.
Basic safety equipment and ropes are provided; bringing personal climbing shoes speeds progress and comfort.
Daily sessions roughly run from eight AM to four thirty PM and include instruction, drills, practice climbs, and supervised belay sessions.
Groups are capped at ten climbers to ensure individualized coaching and safe belayer to climber ratios.
Instructors back up new belayers, use assisted braking devices for top rope, and run controlled tag line exercises for lead introductions.
McCall has long been an outdoor recreation hub on Payette Lake, drawing visitors for decades to its trails, waters, and climbing opportunities.
The program teaches Leave No Trace shoreline practices and route etiquette to minimize impact on climbing areas and lake access points.
