Located in the heart of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Category 5 Smash Room offers a one-of-a-kind outlet for stress release that’s as kinetic as it is cathartic. Known as the Storm Warning experience, this unique smash room invites visitors to embrace controlled chaos in a safe, supervised environment. In just 15 to 20 minutes, participants pulverize a curated selection of small to medium-sized items—from ceramic dishes to electronic gadgets—turning frustration into flying shards and satisfying crashes.
Hattiesburg itself is a Southern city famed for its pine forests and rich history, but Category 5 Smash Room adds a strikingly unconventional twist to the local recreation scene. Instead of trails, waterfalls, or peaks, the smash room is a space of energetic release where visitors can physically break through tension and stress. The facility handles all cleanup and debris removal, allowing visitors to focus solely on the exhilaration of destruction.
This activity stands out in the outdoor adventure landscape for its raw, unfiltered engagement with physical energy and emotion. While not an outdoor tour or traditional adventure trip, Storm Warning taps into the primal urge to break free from daily stress in a way few experiences offer. Its urban setting in downtown Hattiesburg means it’s easily accessible, making it a perfect complement to more typical nature-based adventures in the region.
Participants select their smashing “weapon” among bats, hammers, and crowbars and are provided with a box filled with items ready to be destroyed. The session is fast-paced and intense, rewarded by a surprising sense of calm and accomplishment.
