You push off from a narrow slip near the kayak center and the city shrinks to a line of rooftops; ahead, the archipelago opens in a scatter of granite islets and glassy channels. Mornings begin with low sunlight on rock, the spray of a paddle and the distant cry of a sea bird. By afternoon you’re hauling kayaks onto warm stone, rinsing salt from your hands, and setting a simple camp where only wind and waves keep company.
