The Stairways to Heaven Right Bank route in Wadi Ghalilah pushes you into open ridgelines and narrow gullies where wind and sun sculpt the stone, and the valley below opens into sweeping desert plains and distant Gulf light.

While technically possible to hike unguided, a certified guide is strongly recommended for route-finding, safety on exposed sections, and in case of emergency.
This is a challenging mountain route: you should be comfortable with sustained uphill, short scrambling, and walking on loose rock for several hours.
Autumn through spring (October–April) offers the most comfortable temperatures; summer is very hot and increases risk of heat illness.
No formal permit is typically required, but organized operators supply radios and first-aid and may require waivers; ropes and technical climbing gear are not needed for the Right Bank route.
The Hajar range has long been seasonal grazing and travel territory for local tribes; stone cairns and goat paths still reflect centuries of practical navigation.
