Stained Glass UFO Workshop at FloridaRAMA — St. Petersburg Evening Art Experience

FloridaRAMA in St. Petersburg, Florida, turns an evening into a workshop and gallery rolled into one. At the Stained Glass UFO class led by Art by Peña, visitors spend the day exploring immersive installations before settling in from 6–8 PM to design and solder their own stained-glass UFO panel. The experience combines hands-on craft with the kind of offbeat visual play that has made St. Petersburg’s arts scene one of the Gulf Coast’s most talked-about cultural draws. Start with the setting: FloridaRAMA is an all-ages installation venue that fills rooms with light, color, and tactile art. The key features of the evening are the immersive rooms and the central workshop station where stained glass sheets, copper foil, and kiln-ready solder await. The UFO motif nods to retro sci-fi forms—rounded domes and concentric rings—rendered in translucent glass that catches the Gulf Coast sun and gallery lighting alike. While the site is art-focused rather than geological, the nearby Tampa Bay horizon and low-lying Florida flora set a regional context: palmetto fronds, live oaks, and the wide, flat light of Pinellas County. The two-hour guided session with Art by Peña is suitable for makers of all skill levels; the instructor provides step-by-step demonstrations and all necessary materials. Tickets include admission to FloridaRAMA and the workshop for a single price, and participants leave with a finished panel ready to hang. The class emphasizes safe soldering practice and basic glass-cutting techniques, so safety gear and instructional attention are part of the draw. Why book this when you’re in St. Petersburg? It’s an accessible evening that doubles as a local cultural primer: you’ll get to know a venue that continues to expand the city’s creative footprint and engage with a community of artists. The class is a hands-on souvenir much more personal than a trinket shop purchase, and it’s an easy add-on to waterfront dining, museum hops, or a sunset on the downtown Pier. Practical notes: arrive with closed-toe shoes and a camera for the installations; expect standing work and focused hand use during the workshop. The site is family-friendly, but check age guidelines if bringing children. Book ahead on the provided referral link—the classes fill quickly on weekend nights. Whether you’re an out-of-towner or a local looking for a special night out, a Stained Glass UFO workshop at FloridaRAMA is a tactile, colorful way to make art in a city that thrives on creative risk. Tickets cost $55 and include FloridaRAMA admission plus all materials—glass, foil, flux, tools and solder—so you leave with a finished panel. The 6–8 PM workshop suits date nights, small groups, and solo makers, and it pairs well with dinner and a sunset walk on the waterfront near downtown Pier.
