About

Have you ever wanted to try and make stained glass?

Would you and a friend like to express your creative side learning an ancient art?

Our one-day stained glass experience available on Fridays and Saturdays. We offer one-to-one tuition or bring a friend for a two-to-one course.

The day starts at 10 am and runs to 4.30 pm and during this time a stained glass piece is made. (If the work takes longer than expected, the day can run longer to ensure that your stained glass panel(s) are completed.

In the space of a day, you learn the basic skills of stained glass and make an A4 sized panel to take home at the end of the course.

A template design is provided, one that is suitable and achievable for a beginner to finish by the end of the day.

Day content Morning

  • An introduction to the stained glass studio and health & safety instructions.
  • An introduction into the art of glass cutting and practice. -General talk about working with colour and choosing a colour palette. -Selecting coloured glass for your panel and cutting.

Lunch break (30min) We are in a beautiful isolated location, please bring lunch with you, tea and coffee is provided.

Afternoon

  • Finish off glass cutting.
  • An introduction to using the grinder.
  • Prepare and clean the glass for copper foiling.
  • An introduction into soldering.
  • Soldering, lead the outside, hook making & chemical blackening.

The studio is in a quiet rural area with no nearby eateries; pack food for your 30-minute lunch break.
