About This Adventure

Dive into the SSI Science of Diving course, where you'll explore the underwater world and its impact on the human body. This engaging program combines Zoom sessions, pool practice, and classroom learning, offering insights from experienced instructors. Perfect for aspiring Dive Professionals, it’s an exciting step towards advanced diving knowledge and skills.

TRAINING COSTS:

  • $750 Tuition per person
  • $95 SSI E-learning materials

2 person minimum. If minimum participation is not met, the module will be cancelled and you can either be bumped to the next scheduled event, or refunded

OBJECTIVE: Join the SSI Science of Diving course and you will develop a more complete understanding of the underwater world and its effects on the human body.

This course is a staff favorite as we like to collaborate on teaching this so that we may give everyone an opportunity to share their passions. It's also an opportunity for you, as a student, to have interaction with a wider slice of our staff and maybe get some insight as to what it's like to work as a dive professional either here locally or abroad. You also get a more in depth review of topics that are so important in diving, and its encouraged as the first step towards earning your Dive Master certification or for those seeking more technical training.

We will cover five groups of topics over the course of the week, meeting each weekday evening for 4 hours to discuss: Diving Physics, Physiology, Decompression Theory, Equipment and the Aquatic Environment. We've scheduled a mix of environments to keep the class both accessible and engaging, so there are a couple nights of Zoom, Classroom and a Pool session because... diving! that's what we're here for right? But also, the pool is a great playground for the application of physics :)


DIVER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Open Water Diver Certification or higher
  • 10 years or older (parent/guardian release is required)

DIVER RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • A desire to learn more in depth about diving and/or become a Dive Professional
