SSI accepts students from age 10 for a Junior Open Water certification; adult certification rules apply differently—check with the dive center for specifics.
No prior diving experience is required, but you should be comfortable in the water and able to swim short distances unassisted.
The Open Water certification includes training to a maximum of 18 meters (60 feet) for newly certified divers.
