Join an exciting week-long day camp exploring the rich history and natural beauty of St. Marys and Cumberland Island! Engage in hands-on activities like pottery making and scavenger hunts, gain VIP access to historic sites, and enjoy outdoor adventures, all while making unforgettable memories with fellow campers.

During this week-long day camp, take a deep dive into St. Marys' and Cumberland Island's history, nature, cuisine, and more through:

  • Hands-on activities and crafts, such as pottery making and cast netting

  • Gaining VIP access to its historic buildings and popular eateries, such as the Goodbread Inn and Yankee Pie Apizza

  • Enjoying the outdoors, such as Cumberland Island, Oak Grove Cemetery, foraging in the park, and much more!

Live Like a Timucua

  • Learn about the original Native American inhabitants of our area as you visit the Cumberland Island National Seashore Museum to see up-close their way of life and touch tools they used.
  • NEW! Gain VIP access to the Cumberland Museum's archive to view artifacts not accessible to the public.
  • Forage just as the Native Americans would have for natural resources to use in our next craft!
  • It’s pottery making time! Use your foraged items to decorate a clay pot, which will be fired for you to take home!

Tuesday

St. Marys Scavenger Hunt!

  • Discover the history of St. Marys – and gain VIP access inside its historic buildings – as you go on a scavenger hunt through downtown!
  • It’s game time! Let’s play wiffleball, mimicking games that would have been played in St. Marys a century ago.
  • Learn how African Americans would have gathered seafood by cast netting in the St. Marys River!

Wednesday

Cumberland Island Time

8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

(Note: This is the only day of the camp with different start and end times and different drop off and pick up locations)

  • Today, we visit Cumberland Island to discover thousands of years of history, from the Native Americans to the Spanish, early Americans to the Gilded Age, and beyond!
  • See haunting ruins, view wild horses, and learn of the nature of Cumberland Island.
  • Now for the beach! Here, we will seine for fish in the ocean and run relay races just as the Carnegie family did 100 years ago!

Thursday

Under the Sea

  • We are back in St. Marys explore to the St. Marys Submarine Museum and decipher the meaning of its countless artifacts with the museum’s director!
  • Then, we will do crafts based on unexpected submarine residents: animals!
  • Now it’s time to discover prominent locals buried in Oak Grove Cemetery on a scavenger hunt!

Friday

Eat Our Way Through St. Marys

  • Today is all about local food! Make your own pizza at Seagles Restaurant, enjoy a slice, and then end with a sweet treat!
  • NEW! Plus, explore the historic Riverview Hotel, which has a reputation for being haunted!
  • Finally, we will do crafts and act out a skit highlighting our favorite parts of the week!

This camp requires a minimum of 8 children to run. If this quota is not met by May 26 for the June camp and June 30 for the July camp, we will cancel the camp and issue a full refund.
