Take your climbing to the next level with our Sport Climbing Basics: Learn to Lead course, designed as a natural progression from top-rope climbing. This 1-day course will introduce you to the fundamentals of lead climbing, covering essential lead climbing techniques, rope management, and safety protocols. Perfect for climbers ready to step into leading, this course is taught by experienced ACMG-certified instructors who ensure a supportive, hands-on learning environment.

Beginner to Intermediate: For climbers with some experience, this level includes more technical climbs with steeper terrain, moderate endurance, and difficulty. You should be comfortable with top-rope climbing and able to handle more challenging routes. Fitness Level: Moderate Experience Level: Some prior climbing experience (indoor or outdoor) recommended but not required Grade: Indoor routes: 5.8-5.10a (YDS) Focus: Intermediate climbing techniques and endurance Example: Top-rope climbing on moderately difficult routes, multi-pitch climbs on less challenging terrain

This course is an exciting step for climbers ready to explore the world of lead climbing on real rock, helping you build a strong foundation to continue your climbing journey with confidence.

Age Restrictions: 16+ Participants under the age of 18: All participants under the age of 18 are required to have a signed parent or guardian consent waiver before participating in any activities. This ensures we have the necessary approvals to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for younger adventurers.

For those wanting more time to develop these skills, we offer a 2-day Learn to Lead Sport course to deepen your practice and build confidence in lead climbing. After completing the course, we recommend a guided multi-pitch day, such as the Time Machine on Mt. Arrowsmith, to see these techniques in action before moving on to our multi-pitch climbing course.

Included:

ACMG-certified guide, trad gear, and group safety equipment

Not Included: Personal climbing gear (e.g., harness, shoes, helmet), food, water, and transportation to the crag Rock Climbing Gear Rental Package available as an add-on.
