Spider-Man Under the Hudson Valley Sky: Drive-In Screening at Box Canyon Trail

Under a wide Hudson Valley sky, Spider-Man: Brand New Day rolls across an open-air screen at Box Canyon Trail in Amenia, New York. This one-hour, forty-two-minute screening transforms an old roadside clearing into a communal theater where headlights and lawn chairs face a single bright rectangle. The location sits in Amenia, just off rural roads that thread through oak-and-maple slopes and stone walls typical of the region, so arriving early to enjoy the approach is part of the ritual. The film follows Peter Parker as Spider-Man, his life stretched to the breaking point by responsibility and a surprising physical change that raises the stakes as a fresh pattern of crimes introduces one of his most formidable adversaries. At the drive-in, cinematic tension pairs with low-key, analog pleasures: the hum of idling engines, the ability to tune audio straight to your car radio, and an open sky where stars can punctuate the film’s quieter moments. Gates open at 5:00 pm—plan to arrive early to park, eat, and explore—and check in by pulling up to the box office and giving your reservation name; all tickets are paid upon arrival. Box Canyon Trail’s setting is what makes this screening uniquely local. The 'canyon' in the name cues a compact, amphitheater-like feel: a lawned hollow that frames the screen and natural sound boundaries that keep audio intimate. In autumn the surrounding slopes are vivid with fall color; summer evenings hold warm air and cricket song; winter screenings need extra layers and a different rhythm. This combination of film and landscape reclaims an American pastime—the drive-in—as a place-based, seasonal outing rather than a simple movie night. Practical notes matter: the program runs roughly ninety minutes, so bring blankets and food if you want to linger after credits. The event’s rural location in Amenia makes it a convenient stop for visitors exploring the northern Hudson Valley; nearby country roads and small-town restaurants pair well with an early dinner before showtime. Whether you come for the Marvel spectacle or for a new way to watch films beneath a dark sky, the Box Canyon Trail screening offers a tactile, social movie experience that feels both nostalgic and immediate—an evening where community meets pop culture in a setting that’s unmistakably Hudson Valley. Arrive with a charged phone and radio or use the car FM to catch the soundtrack crisp; bring reusable containers to reduce waste and respect nearby farms by keeping noise low after the film. Dogs are often welcomed in cars but check current site rules; cell reception can be spotty, so download maps and tickets in advance. For visitors staying overnight in town, Amenia’s small inns and farm stays provide a relaxed post-film nightcap within a drive.
