You step off the air‑conditioned minivan into humid, sun-warmed air and the island opens to the south: a corridor of mangroves, cultivated fields and sudden cliffs where a river decides to fall. At YS Falls the water gathers speed and then lets go, tumbling roughly 120 feet into stepped limestone pools that dare you to cool off. Nearby, fishing boats carve low wakes through dark water; palms lean to listen.
