You meet at Sorrento's Marina Piccola as the harbor air fills with diesel and citrus; within minutes a fast ferry cuts across the Bay of Naples and Capri's limestone cliffs grow from horizon to near. The island arrives with a cliffside sprawl of white houses, terraced gardens and the tight, low-mouth of the Blue Grotto—a sea cave that forces you to lie back in a skiff and let the water and light take over.
