This guided bicycle tour begins with a short ride on the Dane River promenade to the Old Ferry Terminal close to the Old Memel Castle area with its new sailing marina, cruise ship & navy terminals. After the short ferry crossing to Smiltyne, the cycling begins through the pine woods on the Curonian Spit to the sea harbour’s gate which is famous for its long moles (manmade sea-defences) heading to the Baltic Sea for several kilometres. En route we’ll enjoy beautiful views of the Baltic Sea, the Curonian Lagoon and changing panoramic face of Klaipeda city with its modern skyscrapers, explore an overland exposition of ancient wooden boats and former soviet trawlers as well as traditional fisherman’s smallholding, say „hello!“ to pelicans guarding the Maritime Museum and Dolphinarium. Relax for a break on a fine, sandy beach, go for a swim in the sea and, perhaps, discover a piece of amber washed ashore.
