Small-Group Catamaran Whale Watching in Tenerife — Shared Charter from Marina del Sur

Shared Charter is a small-group catamaran whale- and dolphin-watching cruise operating off Tenerife’s southern coast. Departing from Marina del Sur, Torre de control, 2ª planta, 38631, Las Galletastt, this three‑hour outing brings passengers into the open Atlantic in search of pods of common dolphins and short‑finned pilot whales. Onboard service, food and drinks are included, and with a maximum of 12 guests the atmosphere is personal and unhurried. The trip reads like a concentrated introduction to Tenerife’s marine edge: volcanic black-rock coastline, the low silhouette of La Gomera on the horizon, and the swift channels where the Canary Current funnels nutrients that attract marine life. The catamaran’s stable deck lets you stand close to the rail as blowholes punctuate the sea surface and curved dorsal fins slice past. Crew guides share natural history — from local feeding behaviors to the region’s changing protections — while keeping the boat positioned for respectful viewing. Why this shared charter matters: Tenerife’s South Coast is one of Europe’s best places for cetacean encounters because of its deep offshore drop-offs and sheltered summer seas. A small-boat format means fewer disturbances to the animals and better chances of quiet, close approaches than with larger ferries. That quiet, plus attentive service and included refreshments, makes it an ideal choice for families, photographers, and first-time watchers alike. Practicalities: morning departures at 09:45 and afternoon departures at 14:00; arrive 10 minutes early. Trips suit ages 2+; children under two are not permitted. Group size is capped at 12, which keeps turns at the rail brief, pleasant, and safe. Note no animals are allowed aboard and the operator may offer an onshore meal extension at Lemongrass, an Asian-seafood restaurant. What makes the scene special are the animals themselves and the stark volcanic backdrop — black cliffs, pumice beaches, and the way light fragments over the Atlantic when a pod rises. Look for pilot whales, common and Atlantic spotted dolphins, and seabirds like shearwaters and terns. The experience pairs easily with a day on Tenerife’s south coast: a harbor-side walk at Los Cristianos, a visit to Punta de Rasca lighthouse, or a sunset meal back at port. If you want precise directions, head to the meeting point listed above. Bring layers, sun protection, and a small camera; the crew will help with the best viewing side. For environmentally minded travelers, ask how the operator follows local viewing codes to minimize disturbance. Shared Charter offers a concise, high-quality window onto Tenerife’s wild marine life — efficient, friendly, and designed to leave you wanting more. Book a morning sail for calmer seas and crisper light, or take the afternoon run for warmer temperatures and late-day surface activity common during summer months in Tenerife.
