Each winter, the rugged peaks of Killington, Vermont, transform into a playground for snowboarders drawn to the adrenaline rush of high-speed racing and technical terrain. Among the season’s standout experiences is the Slash & Berm Banked Slalom, an event that merges the raw thrill of competition with the creativity of the mountain’s natural topography. Held at the iconic Bear Mountain Lodge area, this event captures the spirit of snowboarding culture in the heart of the Green Mountain State.
Set against Killington’s varied slopes, The Stash terrain park becomes a central hub where snowboarders of all ages and skill levels ride challenging berms and banked turns crafted to test agility and speed. This isn’t just a race; it’s a celebration of snowboarding’s evolving style and community. The terrain park is designed to embrace Killington’s distinctive rolling forested ridges, using natural land contours to create a course that respects the environment while maximizing the riding experience.
Friday kicks off the event with an invite-only Shop Team competition, injecting a local flavor as area pro shops compete for bragging rights. Come Saturday, the event opens to individual riders across multiple divisions, including open, grom (13 and under), and legends categories, giving everyone a chance to push their limits. New to this year’s event is the Switch Run—a high-speed afternoon challenge limited to the first 50 entrants that tests riders’ adaptability and style when riding switch stance. The Grom Slalom on Sunday offers young riders their own platform to shine on the snow.
Proceeds from the event support Wings for Life, an international spinal cord injury research foundation, making this more than just competition—it's a community effort to give back.
Hosted in Killington, the largest ski area in the eastern U.S., the Slash & Berm Banked Slalom benefits from a well-developed alpine infrastructure. Killington itself offers ample lodging, dining, and après-ski options just minutes from Bear Mountain
Participants and visitors alike will appreciate the mountain’s expansive views, the crisp Vermont air, and the unique terrain shaped by glaciation and eastern hardwood forests. Killington’s winter scene is dynamic and accessible, making this event a standout occasion for snowboarders and spectators who appreciate a blend of sport, nature, and local character.
Whether you’re here to compete, spectate, or experience snowboarding culture in a prime eastern setting, the Slash & Berm Banked Slalom is a high-energy highlight that uniquely captures the spirit and challenge of Killington’s winter playground.
