Situated in the heart of New Zealand's Waikato region, Waikite Valley Hotpools offers a camping experience balanced perfectly between rugged outdoor simplicity and soothing geothermal relaxation. Site 22 - Non Powered is a specially designated gravel pitch designed for roof top tents or small campervans. Measuring 5 by 4 meters, this spot sits quietly at the campground’s edge, overlooking the expansive Waikite Valley Thermal Reserve. Its location offers campers a front-row seat to the geothermal landscape, with steam rising lazily from natural hot springs below as native birdcalls punctuate the stillness.
Waikite Valley itself is recognized for its dynamic thermal activity—bubbling pools, mineral-rich springs, and unique volcanic terrain shape the environment. Site 22 encourages a self-contained camping style, with no power hookups, challenging visitors to unplug and soak in the natural surroundings. Just 100 meters from the public facilities and six accessible geothermal pools, guests can alternate between star-filled skies and rejuvenating dips in warm mineral waters.
