Adventure tips

Layer for coastal windEven on sunny days, strong Atlantic breezes at Cabo da Roca make a light windbreaker useful during photo stops.

Wear sturdy shoesExpect brief walks over cobbles, garden paths, and cliff viewpoints—closed-toe shoes improve comfort and traction.

Bring a compact cameraMany viewpoints offer dramatic panoramas and architectural details; a small camera or phone with spare battery will capture them best.

Time visits to palaces wiselyPalace interiors have queues; if you want interior access, arrive early or check opening times to avoid long waits.

Recommended gear

Light windbreaker: Protects against the Atlantic breeze at Cabo da Roca and cliff viewpoints.
Sturdy closed-toe shoes: Useful for cobbled streets, garden paths, and brief climbs at lookout points.
Sunscreen and hat: Open viewpoints and beach stops offer limited shade—sun protection reduces sunburn risk.
Camera or phone with spare battery: Photo stops are frequent; extra power ensures you don’t miss the best views.
