Join exciting one-day camps at the Ogden Nature Center, where kids aged 6-12 can explore nature through crafts, games, and hands-on adventures. From creating shelters in "Fantastic Forts" to uncovering the bizarre in "Strange Nature," each camp promises unique experiences that ignite curiosity and foster a love for the environment.

Crafts, games, adventures and challenges make these camps perfect for campers who can only squeeze in a single-day adventure. All camps will provide necessary materials. No meals are provided in these camps. Please pack your own PEANUT FREE lunches.

Calendar:

  • FANTASTIC FORTS: AGES 8-10; June 9th, 8:30am-3:30pm, Cost $80. Lodges, nests, and dens are fine for critters, but what kind of home would you make if you lived outside? We’ll explore the kinds of homes animals make, and then get to the task of creating the perfect human shelter among the trees and trails of the Ogden Nature Center.

  • TOTALLY GROSS: AGES 6-7 June 10th, 9am-1pm, Cost $60. Nature can be totally gross. Together we’ll explore the sticky, slimy, and smelly side of nature through games, crafts, and hand-on exploration. Meet nature’s clean up crew and how they get rid of waste, learn about the grossest living things on earth, and explore “gross” habitats around the nature center. Prepare to get your hands dirty and dress for a mess.

  • THE POND & BEYOND: AGES 10-12 June 11th, 8:30am-3:30pm, Cost $80. Even a small body of water can be a big pocket of life. Plan to get wet as we dive into the wonderful world of ponds. Campers will use hands-on science to investigate invertebrates and other pond-dwellers, check water quality, and observe plants.

  • CRAFTING WITH NATURE AGES 7-9 June 12th, 8:30am-3:30pm, Cost $80. Creative campers will enjoy this full day of crafting with nature. Through mud painting, nature crowns, rock art, and more, campers will use what nature provides to make fun projects to take home.

  • STRANGE NATURE: AGES 7-9 June 13th, 8:30am-3:30pm, Cost $80. Get ready to uncover the bizarre, the wild, and the downright strange wonders of nature! Ever wonder how an owl can turn its head 270 degrees without needing a chiropractor? Or why some creatures glow in the dark like they’re straight out of a sci-fi movie? And what’s the deal with blobfish? Are they really made of jelly, or is there more to the story? Join us for a week of mind-boggling discoveries as we dive into the wacky world of animal adaptations, unusual behaviors, and the strangest survival strategies in the wild.

  • ECO ART:
    AGES 6-7 July 21st, 9am-1pm Cost $60. Explore the beauty of nature! Campers will create crafts inspired by their surroundings while learning about the environment and the animals with whom we share our ecosystem.

  • JUNIOR BOTANISTS:
    AGES 8-10 July 22nd, 8:30am-3:30pm, Cost $80. Plants and pollinators are our best friends, but who knows why? Junior Botanists know why! Come join us outdoors as we dive into the world of local plant identification and pollinator appreciation through hands-on activities! Junior Botanists will explore the fascinating relationship between plants and pollinators, discovering the vital roles these dynamic duos play in our ecosystem.

  • JUNIOR WILDLIFE ECOLOGISTS: AGES 10-12 July 23rd, 8:30am-3:30pm, Cost $80. Ever wondered who discovers new animals or decides what’s extinct or endangered? Wildlife ecologists do! Spend a day in nature in the shoes of a wildlife researcher learning to track and survey wildlife, learning to identify a variety of animals based on tracks and signs, meeting interesting animals, as well as playing fun wildlife games and creating cool animal crafts.

  • SPACE CAMP: AGES 8-10 July 25th, 4pm-10pm, Cost $80. Discover the incredible worlds lurking in our galaxy with this evening camp dedicated to outer space! Build your own “rover” to survive a Mars drop test, learn about the planets in our solar system, and finish the night with a campfire dinner and stargazing while hearing stories about the constellations far above us.

  • MACROS AND MINIS: AGES 7-9 July 28th, 8:30am-3:30pm. Cost $80. Nature is made up of so many small but mighty living things. Explore the world of bugs, buds, and miniature beasts. Dip into ponds, dig into soil, and look closer as we delve into the world of tiniest living things.

  • ONC ANIMAL AMBASSADORS: AGES 6-7 July 29th, 9am-1pm. Cost $60. Utah is home to an incredible range of wildlife. Ogden Nature Center hosts a number of native species both captive and wild. Come join us to learn about our desert and forest friends; how they live, what they eat, and how they interact with nature. Through live demonstrations of ONC’s animal ambassadors, campers will be able to gain an appreciation for these amazing animals and how they support their ecosystems and the Ogden Nature Center.

  • MARVELOUS MAMMALS: AGES 6-7 July 30th, 9am-1pm. Cost $60. What do a lion, a bear, and a dolphin all have in common? Why, they’re all mammals, of course! Come learn all about what sets mammals apart from birds and reptiles, and learn what really makes a mammal, a mammal! Spend the day learning about these incredible creatures, through games, crafts, and meeting a live mammal!
