You meet outside the Hudson View Diner as a subway car exhales beneath the street — voices from stoops and the distant thrum of the Hudson shape the first chords. The tour threads uptown from the 181st Street station toward the George Washington Bridge, where the river dares you to look west and imagine a cast of characters walking home.
