You step out of the 4WD into cold, thin air and the world immediately opens: plateaus cut by sheer escarpments, a distant waterfall snatching the light, and herds of gelada baboons moving like flecks of red across grassland. The trail from Sankaber climbs and folds, with the wind shaping the grasses and the cliffs daring you to keep ascending toward Geech and higher ridgelines.
