Engine hum and dust mark the start: you strap into helmet and gloves, the jungle closing in as ATVs climb rough switchbacks above the Cuale River. The Sierra Madre here pushes and pulls at the trail — thorny brush crowds the singletrack, wind scours the ridgelines, and sudden clearings open to wide coastal views that dare you to stop and look.

Moderate fitness; able to handle uneven ground, climb on/off ATVs, and endure vibration for 2–3 hours.

No; stops like the jungle bar and the riverside restaurant are pay-as-you-go—bring cash for purchases.
This tour is not recommended for those with back or heart problems; moderate fitness is required and infants must sit on laps.
Tours typically start near central Puerto Vallarta with a short transfer to trailheads; expect a return ride downtown at the end.
The Cuale River valley supported pre-colonial settlements and later became a corridor for ranching; its waters shaped Puerto Vallarta’s early growth.
Stick to the trails to limit erosion; avoid leaving trash at spring-fed pools and choose operators who follow low-impact practices.
