You kick the scooter into life at dawn with dew still clinging to banana leaves and a rider who knows every narrow lane. The road threads between emerald rice paddies that tilt toward the valley, and the motor hums like a willing companion as you pass wooden warungs, small offerings at shrines, and a market where mornings are measured in spice bundles and chicken calls.
