Setúbal/Azeitão is the home of ancient and renowned Portuguese wine cellars. It is also one of the most beautiful regions in Portugal, with an amazing Natural Park, that is called Arrábida.
We begin our day trip by crossing the Tagus River, through the 25th of April Bridge (much like the San Francisco suspended bridge). Before heading onto Setúbal, we climb the Christ King, which has an incredible 360º panoramic view of Lisbon.
For lunch, you can book your own restaurant in Setúbal, or have our guide take you to a typical Portuguese restaurant, famous for its seafood and freshly caught fish.
Arriving at the Setúbal port we will board the Catamaran of our partners "Vertigem Azul" or similar. The boat ride runs for approximately 3 hours in the Sado Estuary. Here you will connect with nature, coming very closely to the Dolphins that make it their natural habitat.
On our way back, we'll pass through beautiful Sesimbra and visit its Castle, which will offer you incredible views!
Private catamaran spots fill quickly, especially in spring and summer—reserve ahead to secure your preferred date.
The estuary ride can be choppy on windy days; pack motion sickness tablets if you’re prone to sea discomfort.
Layers and a windbreaker are useful—mornings can be cool on the water even in summer.
Maintain a safe distance from dolphins to avoid disturbing their natural behaviors during the tour.
Setúbal has a rich fishing heritage and historical role as a key port during Portugal’s Age of Discovery.
Efforts in the Sado Estuary aim to balance tourism with marine ecosystem protection, promoting sustainable wildlife encounters.
