Set Sail on the MV Mariner: Private Charters from Providence to Narragansett Bay

On a bright afternoon in Providence, the MV Mariner eases away from the dock and the city falls into a horizontal sequence of brick facades and glass towers. Large Group Private Charters from the Providence River Boat Company take advantage of a new 65-foot vessel that carries up to 55 passengers, offering private outings that push beyond the riverwalk into Narragansett Bay. Check in for The Mariner is located at [25 India Point, Providence], an easy, scenic starting point beside the India Point Park pedestrian bridge. The itinerary reads like a coastal short story: the route passes East Providence and Pomham Rocks Lighthouse, threads by Riverside and Edgewood, skirts Gaspee Point, and continues along Barrington, Rumstick Point, Conimicut Point & Lighthouse, Warren, Rocky Point, Bristol, and Colt State Park before turning near Patience Island to return north. Those shorelines reveal the region’s glacially scoured bedrock, mixed salt marshes, and working harbors; you'll notice granite ledges outcropping where horseshoe crabs and fiddler crabs hunt the tide edge. What makes this a standout in Rhode Island is scale and local partnership. The Mariner opens coastal routes previously off-limits to smaller boats, so corporate groups, family reunions, and rehearsal dinners can watch Providence’s skyline dissolve into open water, then landproof their event with locally sourced catering from More Than A Meal Catering, West Passage Oysters, Narragansett Brewery and other purveyors. The vessel is USCG inspected, carries PFDs for every passenger, and enforces RI law that children under 13 wear approved life jackets while underway. Practical details matter: charters run from 1½ to 2½ hours, with pricing tiers for 30 and 55 passengers and a 7-day cancellation policy for full refunds. The Mariner's sound system and bar packages — from local beer-and-wine selections to full liquor service — let you set the tone, while onboard staff coordinate vendor deliveries and service. Note the vessel was designed to navigate the low bridges of downtown Providence but is not wheelchair accessible. Beyond the logistics, the trip is a primer in coastal New England: lighthouse profiles, tidal rivers that reverse flow with the bay, and the chance to spot ospreys or harbor seals cruising the shallows. For groups who want a private view of Rhode Island’s shoreline history and contemporary hospitality, Large Group Private Charters aboard the MV Mariner deliver an elevated, efficient, and distinctly local way to celebrate on the water. Bring layers and non-slip shoes; coastal wind and sun conspire on exposed decks. Book two to three months ahead for summer weekends and ask about vendor coordination, custom playlists, and the Low Tide and High Tide beverage packages.
