You step off the dusty road where jungle scents sharpen—the cardamom and damp leaf tang of Alta Verapaz—and follow a narrow path toward the village of Semil, a few kilometers from the turquoise pools of Semuc Champey. The trail threads through planted fields, crosses a traditional suspension bridge that bounces underfoot, and opens briefly onto a ridge with sweeping views of limestone karst rolling toward the river.
