You meet under the bronze statue of Louis XIV, the glass pyramid's angles catching late-morning light while the courtyard hums with tourists and city noise. The group moves inside, galleries unfolding like rooms in a long-lived palace: stone steps, vaulted halls and the hush that follows a guide’s soft, authoritative voice.

Originally built as a royal fortress in the 12th century, the Louvre evolved through royal residence to revolutionary museum, accumulating architectural layers that mirror French history.
The museum employs strict climate control and conservation practices to protect fragile works; visitor numbers and group sizes are managed to reduce wear on galleries and artifacts.
