You step off the launch in Picton and the Sound opens like a cool, moving hallway—water pressing at both sides while hills rise dark and green. The boat nudges into a tiny bay and, for the next day, the Queen Charlotte Track hands you a stitched path of ridgewalks, sheltered bays and fern-lined terraces.
