About

Giraffe Ranch is the only place we know of that offers a guided Segway® Safari!

Segway Safaris are akin to walking safaris done in Africa, minus the sweat and effort. Using this method of transportation, one can stand at eye-level with zebra, pygmy hippo, ostrich, antelope, and many other herd animals. Being on ground level, guides can stop to make interesting observations of native flora and fauna, game trails, animal tracks, scat, ostrich nests/eggs, and natural herd behaviors.

The Segway is high tech and silent. Our Segways are top-of-the-line X2 Camo models with all terrain tires. After a brief training, you will follow your expert driver guide and discover a multitude of animals in their natural habitats throughout Giraffe Ranch.

On a Segway, one is close enough to the ground to see many things unable to be viewed from a vehicle or by camelback, and makes for quite an interesting mode of safari transport!

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of animals do you have?

Giraffe Ranch has over 450 animals representing over 50 different species. A lot of the animals you find here are ones that zoos are unable to house because they live in such large groups and require lots and lots of space. Because our property consists of 260 acres of pristine wilderness, we're able to house a variety of exotic hoofstock species such as common and Defassa waterbuck, zebra, camels, ring-tailed and red-ruffed lemurs, red lechwe, nilgai, watusi cattle, and more! You'll also have a chance to see a variety of native wildlife.

I do not want to pay for a tour can I just come and feed the animals?

No. The optional add-ons are only available with the purchase of one of our safaris.

Which tour time is best to view the animals?

All of our tour times are great! The animals that we house here are specifically chosen because they do well in central Florida's climate.

Where do your animals come from?

Because we have so much space for our animals, babies are a very common thing! Most of our animals are born onsite. We buy, sell, and trade with other licensed facilities.

What should I wear?

Although not required, we recommend close-toed shoes. We go rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather.

Can I bring my pet?

We do not allow any unauthorized animals on the premises, which includes our driveway and parking lot. Please leave all dogs, cats, and other furry critters at home.

Will I see every animal during the tour?

Although guides make every effort to encourage our residents to greet our tour groups, you may not see every animal during your time here. Because our property is so large, and most of the animals live in huge pastures as opposed to enclosures, there is no guarantee that you will see every species on the property.

Other things to know

We do not do special pricing for children, infants, seniors, etc.
